Who Is Behind This Recall Anyway
C.J. McDonald filed the recall paperwork with the County. He had help from a small group of eleven township residents that collected signatures.
Eight of those individuals had run for office and lost.
Some were behind the 2006 recall election against Kathy Giszczak and Joann Kidder. They lost that campaign by 77%.
This recall effort wastes taxpayers money and disrupts services to our residents. A recall election will cost as much as $10,000, and distracts the Clerk from doing the job that you elected her to do in 2008. If successful, then a second election to obtain a new clerk may be necessary. Who will that be?
Eight of the Eleven petition signature collectors:
- CJ McDonald, Resigned in 2001; lost multiple elections since
- Kathleen McDonald, CJ’s wife lost multiple elections since 2000; Was fired as township bookkeeper
- Kathleen Jackson, lost 2 elections in the last 2 years for 2 positions
- Mike King, current Board Trustee; His team lost 2008 campaign
- Judy Thornton, a Republican ran as Democrat, lost 2010 election
- Lynda Dew, lost re-election as Treasurer in 2008; as Deputy Treasurer, was investigated by the State in 2000
- Tonya McCune, lost election for Clerk in 2008
- Iva Bielic, lost re-election for Clerk in 2004
This recall is also supported by Pete Hafler, current Supervisor
